Migraine

Summary
Migraine is an idiopathic headache disorder which is characterized by recurrent, often unilateral and pulsating headache attacks accompanied by vegetative symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, photophobia, and phonophobia. About 1/3 patients will suffer from aura before migraine attacks.
Causes

Migraine is a chronic neurovascular disease and the pathogenesis of migraine is not fully understood. Common predisposing factors include: natural environmental factors (visual stimuli such as glare and flicker, odor, weather changes), sleep-related factors (insufficient sleep, excessive sleep), irregular diet, etc.

Symptions

Migraine attacks can be divided into four phases: prodromal, aura, headache, and recovery. Not all patients or all episodes have the above four phases. The same patient can have different types of migraine attacks.

Treatment

Maintain a healthy lifestyle, identify and avoid headache-inducing factors, and make full use of non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatments. Pharmacological treatments include acute treatment and preventive treatment. Pay attention to their evidence-based use.
